The three mast schooner Dunderburg was built In Detroit in 1867. At 11:00PM on the evening of August 13th, 1868 the Dunderburg, carrying forty thousand bushels of grain, was struck in the starboard side by the steamer Empire State.
The Dunderburg sank in 10 minutes, the only lost of life being a female passenger that was thrown off during the collision.
The highlight of this shipwreck is the well preserved figurehead that is nested beneath the bowsprit.
Join Tony Gramer and crew as they explore the well intact shipwreck. This 29 minute video program is synchronized to music and employs live narration.
This program will be presented by Tony Gramer.
We hope to see you there next year, The Ford Seahorses.
